Self-Side Advisory

We built this firm around a simple idea: founders deserve an advisor who has actually stood where they stand.

More Than an Advisor. A Partner in the Decision.

Selling a company is not something most founders have done before, and it’s not something you should have to figure out alone. The process touches everything you’ve built: your finances, your team, your reputation, and often your sense of what comes next.

East Water Street exists to bring order and confidence to that process. We work as an extension of you, not a middleman, guiding you through every stage of a sale with the same discipline and care we’d want if it were our own company on the table.

Founder Transition Advisory

Selling your company is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. It’s personal, complex, and rarely just about the number.

We help founders think through the tax, culture, timing, legacy, and financial outcomes that come with a sale, along with what life looks like after the transaction closes, so you can make informed decisions you won’t second guess later.

We’re with you every step of the way.

You only sell your company once.

Work with an advisor who understands both the founder’s side of the table and the buyer’s mindset.

FAQ

What does sell-side M&A advisory mean?

Sell-side M&A advisory means representing the business owner, rather than the buyer, throughout the sale of a company. This includes preparing the business for sale, positioning it to attract the right buyers, and managing negotiations through to a successful closing.

Our sell-side advisory includes exit readiness assessment, valuation and positioning, teaser and CIM development, confidential buyer outreach, process management, and negotiation and closing support. Each engagement is tailored to the specific business and goals of the owner.
East Water Street is generally compensated through an upfront engagement fee and a success fee tied to a completed transaction. Exact terms are discussed and agreed upon directly with each client based on the scope of the engagement.
